It is the philosophy of Curtis Baptist School that athletics can play a significant role in the training of young people as they learn the values of hard work, teamwork, and playing by the rules. There are many lessons to be learned through the process of both winning and losing. It is our belief that good sportsmanship and a positive Christian testimony are the ultimate values in athletic competition as in other areas of life.
The athletic program at Curtis Baptist School (CBS) offers middle school and high school students a wide variety of sports. Student-Athletes are actively supported by parent volunteers who form the Crusader Club. This association provides valuable support to the success of the mighty Crusaders!
Currently, over 90% of Curtis students take part in the athletic program. CBS is a member of the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) and the Augusta/Aiken Middle School League. Learn more about each individual athletic program.
Heat Policy: When the heat index exceeds 102 degrees, athletes must practice in shorts and t-shirts only. No catcher's gear, helmets, etc. can be worn. Practices should consist of light fundamentals and teamwork, with little to no conditioning. Water breaks MUST BE taken every 15 minutes, for at least 5 minutes. Plenty of water needs to be available. Any athlete that says they are getting too hot must be allowed to sit out. Coaches must use extreme discretion. If the heat index reaches 110 degrees, practice is canceled or must be moved inside. No team will practice outdoors with a heat index of 110 degrees or higher.
